Writers, do you have any advice on how to stay sane(ish) through all this?
The road to my first book’s publication has proved really emotional so far.
Howdy Friends,
This week was a busy one. First, I recorded the introduction of Gator Country’s audiobook. Then, I recorded a bonus interview with the infamous Jeff Babauta. While I felt a little nervous at first, it was mostly exciting because I read everything aloud when writing or editing anyway, so it was nice that this time, I was actually being recorded. I’m posting a snippet of the audiobook recording on Tik Tok today, so stay tuned there!
The rest of the audiobook will be narrated by the talented John Pirhalla, who is a finalist for the 2023 Audio Publishers Association’s award of “Best Male Narrator of the Year.” I’m stoked to have him as the voice of my debut book!
As you may have noticed, I am ramping up my outreach as we get closer and closer to the publication of Gator Country. The road to my first book’s publication has proved really emotional so far. One day, I’m on top of the world. The next day, I’m stressed and panicked. I should have listened to all the writers who warned me about how exhausting publicizing your own book can be! Writers, do you have any advice on how to stay sane(ish) through all this?
I’ve put so much time into writing, researching, and editing Gator Country and I think it’s important to spread the word about my own work as much as I can. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with support and encouragement—especially those who have already preordered their copy of Gator Country. It means the world to me!
Thanks for reading,
Rebecca
I’m currently reading and loving You, Again by Kate Goldbeck. It is a clever enemies-to-friends-to-lovers debut romance novel about a commitment-phobe and a hopeless romantic who clash over and over again until heartbreak and unexpected chemistry bring them together. Whoever called this book a bisexual When Harry Met Sally wasn’t lying!
Let me know if you’ve read this book before. If so, what are your thoughts on it?
That’s all for this week, folks! Jojo says, “Have a great weekend!”

Reach out! Happy to chat.
No, there's absolutely no way to stay sane. It just slowly abates, and in about six months you're like...wow I was really out of control. For each book the crazy period gets shorter and shorter, though. For my first it was about six months before and after pub. For my second it was three before and three after. Now I have a book coming out in three months, and I'm not crazy yet at all! It's coming though!
